Dr. Sisay Sirgu

Dr. Sisay Sirgu is a distinguished physician, educator, and healthcare leader, currently serving as the Provost of St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College (SPHMMC) in Ethiopia. He oversees academic programs, research initiatives, and healthcare service delivery at one of the country’s leading healthcare institutions.

Dr. Sisay earned his MD from Jimma University and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Addis Ababa University. He further specialized in Diabetes and Endocrinology at Apollo Hospitals in India and holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Mekelle University. His extensive qualifications position him as a leading authority in internal medicine and endocrinology in Ethiopia.

Before becoming Provost in January 2023, he was the Academic and Research Vice-Provost at SPHMMC, where he advanced the college’s research agenda. Dr. Sisay has also worked with the World Health Organization, contributing to the development of guidelines and tools to enhance global healthcare systems.

He has held leadership roles in various professional organizations, including serving as President of the Ethiopian Society of Internal Medicine. Dr. Sisay is actively involved in research related to infectious diseases and healthcare quality, publishing multiple articles in reputable medical journals. His dedication to advancing healthcare in Ethiopia has earned him recognition both locally and internationally.
