Dr. Sena Dhugassa
Academic and Research Vice Provost, St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College
Dr. Sena Dhugassa is a distinguished leader in academia and medical research, serving as the Academic and Research Vice Provost at St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College. Her educational journey began at Edget Public Elementary School and continued at Bethel Mekane Yesus School in Addis Ababa, where she completed her secondary and preparatory education.
She earned her Junior Medical Doctor degree from Jimma University, later specializing in Family Medicine at Addis Ababa University’s Black Lion Hospital. Dr. Sena further subspecialized in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College, cementing her expertise in delivering holistic, patient-centered care.
Dr. Sena has actively pursued professional development throughout her career, completing numerous training programs and certifications. These include specialized training in palliative care, such as an initiator’s course, and participation in an Interprofessional Applied Practical Teaching and Learning Program in Ethiopia. Additionally, she earned a certification in Health System Management Training, further enhancing her leadership and organizational skills in healthcare. Dr. Sena has also made significant contributions to public health in Ethiopia through her active involvement in various health-related research initiatives.
In her current role, Dr. Sena oversees all academic and research activities at St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College, championing innovative strategies to advance healthcare education, research, and community-based services. She is deeply passionate about delivering the highest standard of person-centered care by fostering the development of efficient and disciplined healthcare professionals. Dr. Sena is equally committed to spearheading research initiatives that address community health challenges and related issues. She underscores the critical importance of strong leadership in achieving optimal educational outcomes, enhancing patient care, and driving transformative change in teaching, healthcare, and community-based services.
