Home > AboutUs > Research

We conduct high quality clinical, health services and community based research in the areas of reproductive health issues. We have an organizations environment that facilitates effective undertaking of research activities by investigators.

Various research activities are being undertaken by faculty, residents and undergrad students in the department. Over the last three years close to 30 publications were authored or coauthored by the faculties in the departments. Eight new research projects are currently being run by the faculty which are supported by the college and CIRHT. Ten third batch of Ob-Gyn residents have successfully defended their researches projects in March 2018. You can access a research repository  of the department at https://repo.spirhr.org

In addition the department is involved in large multicounty studies. The WOMAN trial, a multicenter randomized clinical trial on the use of tranexamic acid for the management of postpartum hemorrhage, in which the department was involved was published on The Lancet in April 2017. Burden of Antibiotic Resistance on Neonates from Developing Societies (BARNARDS) is a multicounty study being done in seven countries led by Cardiff University and the department runs the Ethiopian component of this study.
