Quality Improvement is one of the major components of the department to ensure systematic and continues action are integrated for measurable improvement in service delivery and system of care. The OB/GYN faculties have taken the initiative in the development and implementation of QI projects. The OB/GYN department further planned using disciplined and standard approach to ensure smooth implementation and meeting improvement goal. Thus, the first round of Quality Improvement workshop was organized and conducted from June 1 – 2 2018 at sapphire Addis hotel for 21 participants including SPHMMC OB/GYN faculties, Pediatric department staffs and St. Peter Hospital OB/GYN faculties.
The workshop was provided by Dr. Ayele Teshome Medical Director at St. Peter Hospitals and Dr. Munir Kassa, Director, RH service quality and patient safety, CIRHT. The workshop provided participants with relevant skills focusing on lifecycle of Quality Improvement project including QI project designing vs. Traditional QI project, generating change ideas, aim statement construction, team building, problem and root cause analysis, principles of testing, data collection and analysis skills and implementing QI projects along with follow up and documentation. The participants were divided in three groups throughout the workshop and at the end, a draft QI project was developed by the three groups which will be followed by each team in finalization and implementation of the project with respective change team.
We got a very nice knowledge, skill and experience for improving our college’s clinical service and teaching activities.
